I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Alyse Stern, a local woman who just opened a new orthodontics practice in Mount Kisco. Dr. Stern told me about herself and her practice. She will also be regularly contributing tips and advice for all things orthodontia.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The fact that I can connect with people while making a positive difference in their oral health; that is important to me. I also love treating patients to create their smile that will make them feel more confident about themselves
What initially attracted you to orthodontics?
Maybe I was always destined to join the family business- my father and oldest brother are dentists! I think creating a beautiful and healthy smile is like solving a challenging puzzle; this requires an intimate knowledge of both the art and science of orthodontics.
How do you meet the needs of a variety of your patients?
I truly believe collaboration is the cornerstone of good care. The patient and I work together to come up with a plan that both meets their needs and is the epitome of good orthodontic treatment, while providing esthetic, functional and stable results.
Proper training and continuing education. I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, my dental degree from the University of Maryland, and then completed a 3-year orthodontic residency and Masters of Science from Columbia University. Moreover, I am committed to lifelong learning so I can always be my best.
Can you say a little about yourself?
I was raised in Rockland County and now live in Bedford with my husband, David, our two young boys, Ryan and Brett, and our wonderful dog, Charlie. When I’m not working, you can find me and my family out enjoying Westchester!
