Family Walk to Protect America’s Wild Heritage

Time: 1-3PM

Location: Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River, NY (shelter 5)

Fee: FREE

The Wolf Conservation Center’s third annual FREE service-learning event, “WCC’s Family Walk to Protect America’s Wild Heritage,” celebrates Newbery Medal-winning author Jean Craighead George and the natural world she described so vividly over her long and robust career. In her books Jean sees a world where a diversity of species live in vibrant populations on every wild landscape; where no species should cower on the edge of extinction; and where every child learns of, and respects, the amazing animals we share Earth with. The event will introduce at-risk species who have been given a chance of recovery thanks to the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The ESA is the strongest and most important federal law protecting imperiled wildlife. Through her books, the celebrated author opens the door to understanding the importance and plight of endangered species, rewilding hearts of adults and children alike.

The event will include learning activities, hikes, crafts, raffles and an appearance by ambassador wolf Atka too! We hope you can join us on this special day!  Information available at www.nywolf.org.
