According to the Recruit NY website, these open houses are, "A vital function for every department, recruitment keeps the New York State volunteer fire service alive.That’s why RecruitNY was created. After years of decline, FASNY’s annual RecruitNY weekend has helped add more than 20,000 to the ranks of fire departments across the state."
