Katonah Village Library partners with WJCS’ Center Lane to offer a program “LGBTQ 101”

The LGBTQ 101 workshop is an introduction to Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning concepts and terminology. Participants will actively participate in the presentation, and will learn the differences between sexual orientation and gender identity.

This program is in two parts and will run for approximately an hour.

Date: Monday June 13th at Katonah Village Library

Time: For Youth ages 13-214:30pm

Time: For Parents or people over 21, 6:30pm

About WJCS (Westchester Jewish Community Services) Founded in 1943, WJCS is one of the largest non-sectarian, not-for-profit human services agencies in Westchester. They support 20,000 Westchester residents annually to meet challenges and achieve personal success. Services include mental health treatment, a network of child and youth development initiatives, programs for people with disabilities and autism, homecare, services for older adults, and privately funded programs for the Jewish community.

About Center Lane:  WJCS’ Center Lane is the only LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning) youth and community education center in Westchester. Celebrating its 20th year, Center Lane serves close to 500 diverse LGBTQ youth, ages 13 to 21, and their allies. A professional staff and committed group of volunteers work with youth to plan and provide recreational activities, workshops on topics of interest to participants, advocacy events, and leadership training. Emotional and social support is offered through individual, group and family counseling. Program youth have the important opportunity to spend time with peers in a supportive, fun, safe and caring environment.
