They’re at it again. The duo that opened the popular Gallo in Ridgefield, Raffaele Gallo and Giuseppe (Peppe) Castellano will open Peppe’s, an authentic Italian trattoria tomorrow, Wednesday, September 14 at 450 Oakridge Commons in South Salem (Route 123). Also part of the Peppe’s team is Executive Chef, Brian Bender, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of American, Bender is a seasoned caterer and former owner of The Cutting Board in Ridgefield.
Peppe’s is an upscale eatery with a casual vibe that beckons you to linger well after cappuccino is empty (disclaimer, this happened to me). “The concept is that you feel comfortable here,” co-owner Peppe’s, Giuseppe Castellano remarked.
It’s hard not to feel comfortable. Peppe’s looks, feels (and tastes) wholesome. The natural wood decor, large blackboard menus, and open, spacious interior, coupled with authentic all-natural dishes created by Bender, make you feel like you’ve arrived - at a place you can call home.
Peppe’s serves breakfast (NYC bagels, eggs, croissants, fresh-squeezed juices), a beautiful Sunday brunch (quiche, breakfast pizza, pancakes with strawberries, whipped cream, and more) as well as “Old School Italian” and “American” lunch, and dinner menu selections. The restaurant has a full liquor license, fine wine selections, and table service during dinner hours.
The finest ingredients go into each and every dish created by Bender. Pizza topped with fresh soppressata, “The Peppe’s” sandwich comprised of blackened chicken, lettuce, tomato, avocado, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo, are just some of the palate-pleasing dishes I sampled while visiting Peppe’s. But there’s so much more - salads, Antipasti, grass-fed burgers, classic Italian favorites including meat lasagna, and some signature Italian dishes like Spaghetti Peppe’s style (cherry tomatoes, garlic and oil presented in a parmesan wheel).
And if you have room for dessert. “We have homemade Cannolis and Italian Cheese Cake” says Bender. Peppe’s serves Cappuccino, Espresso, Latte, as well as fresh brewed iced tea (regular and raspberry), fresh lemonade and raspberry palmer (combo of raspberry iced tea and lemonade).
Can’t sit and linger? Peppe’s has you covered if you’re on the go with hot dinner selections, homemade pizza pies (slices too), and even fresh rotisserie chickens.
“Great Dining. Good Living”. Peppe’s words to live by prominently hang on a sign created by Castellano’s artistic wife, a simple reminder of why you're there.
Peppe’s will open at 7:30 am on Wednesday, September 14. Visit them online here.
