When Amazon Films snapped up Honey Boy at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, the buzz started to swirl about the semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama inspired by Shia LaBeouf’s stormy relationship with stardom — and his abusive father. The film earned a standing ovation and admirable reviews, particularly for Labeouf’s performance as his own father and for Noah Jupe’s star turn as a child actor on the rise.

“It’s strange to fetishize your pain and make a product out of it,” LaBeouf said following the film’s premiere in August. “And you feel guilty about that. It felt very selfish. This whole thing felt very selfish. I never went into this thinking, ‘Oh let me f—ing help people.’ That wasn’t my goal. I was falling apart.”

Honey Boy co-stars Lucas Hedges, FKA Twigs, Maika Monroe, Natasha Lyonne, Martin Starr, Byron Bowers, Laura San Giacomo, and Clifton Collins Jr.

Producer Daniela Taplin Lundberg will join Bedford Playhouse for an audience conversation and Q&A after the film. Daniela is the Founder of Stay Gold Features, a New York based film finance and production company. With over 25 features under her belt, Daniela is always drawn to mission-driven films that push boundaries, including titles like The Kids Are All Right, and Beasts of No Nation. She is continuing that work through Stay Gold with ambitious films like the upcoming Harriet and Honey Boy.

Named to Variety’s 2017 Women’s Impact Report, Lundberg is a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well as of YPO (Young President’s Organization).
