Harvey Hosting Forum on Dangers of Youth Vaping January 14

The Harvey Parent Association, in coordination with the American Lung Association, is inviting area parents to a special presentation of “What Parents Need to Know About Vaping” on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.

The presentation will offer parents of middle school and high school students practical information about vaping, vape pens, e-cigarettes, JUUL, how to spot the signs that their child may already be vaping and how to talk to their child about the dangers of vaping.

Vaping among young people is reaching epidemic proportions with an estimated 5,700 kids starting to vape every single day, according to the American Lung Association. Misconceptions, peer pressure, and marketing tactics all contribute to the staggering rise of vaping among our youth, and it is vital that we are proactive in educating them on the dangers of e-cigarette use, the association says.

The special program, to be held in the Lasdon Theater of Harvey’s Walker Center for the Arts, will feature a panel discussion with American Lung Association representatives and Harvey’s Head of School Bill Knauer, Dean of Upper School Gary Dunn, and Dean of Middle School Dr. Stephanie Metz.

The event is free and open to all parents in the surrounding community. In order to reserve a seat, individuals are asked to register at https://www.harveyschool.org/arts/harvey-presents/vaping
