Harvey Celebrates Founders Day

Harvey Celebrates Founders Day 2020

The entire student body and staff of The Harvey School gathered in the Fenstermacher Athletic Center Friday, Feb. 21, to celebrate Founders Day.

Harvey, founded in 1916 by Dr. Herbert Carter and his wife Mabel as a residential secondary school for boys, was named after Dr. William Harvey, the 17th century English physician credited with being the first to recognize the full circulation of the blood in the human body. The Carters established the celebration of Founders Day, which, today, includes a celebratory cutting of the cake by the youngest boy and girl attending Harvey.

This year’s honor of cutting the cake went to sixth-graders Richard Sullivan and Sonia Espitia with help from Head of School Bill Knauer.
