Bedford Playhouse news: construction to begin, renovation team announced

Bedford Playhouse is thrilled to announce that construction will begin on its state-of-the-art theaters, café and community hub in early May 2017!

After an extensive planning and review process, our Board of Directors has voted to begin construction on our exciting new facility. We have awarded contracts to a talented and experienced team of professionals, all of whom are looking forward to getting started!

Partners include:

R C Torre Construction Corporation, Bedford Hills, NY - Construction and Build Out

Darren Mercer, Katonah, NY - Architect

John Burkhardt, Big Show Consultant and Management, New York, NY - Owner’s Representative/Project Manager

Danielle Galland Design, New York, NY - Interior Design

John Farr, Board President and Founder said, "This is a long-awaited move for us, the culmination of a lot of effort and teamwork over the past two and a half years. It reflects our Board's belief that enough support exists in the community to allow us to open the new Playhouse and thrive once we do."

The Bedford Playhouse will be a vibrant, not-for-profit arts house cinema and cultural resource for Bedford and the surrounding communities. The facility will offer 3 state-of-the-art theaters: the large theater, (180 seats) will be used for celebrity events and programming in addition to screenings; one smaller theater (40 seats) will host intimate events and screenings, and one flex-use theater space, The David Worby Theater, will feature removable furniture, which will allow for a range of public and private events, performances, art exhibits and more.

In addition to the theaters, the Playhouse will offer an "all-day" café, serving light meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The café will also have a full bar.  The Playhouse Café will serve as an inviting, welcoming gathering place for food, drink, work, quiet time, and conversation.
