Troop K continues to see an increase in stolen cars and thefts from vehicles

The State Police in Troop K want to remind the public to lock their cars due to a continued trend of vehicle break-ins and thefts.

• Please always lock your vehicle, even in your own driveway. 
• Close all windows including sunroofs. 
• Park in well-lit areas. 
• Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running. 
• Never leave keys, valuables, or personal identification in a vehicle. 

Currently, most of the vehicles that unlawfully leave a traffic stop involving State Police are stolen from the local area.  Vehicles are being stolen largely in part because victims have kept their vehicle unlocked, with the keys in it.
