Lewisboro Community Volunteer Fair at the Library on Saturday, March 2

<p>Give back to your Community! This annual event pairs would-be volunteers with local agencies in need of help.</p><p>Stop by and speak with representatives of local groups who will have tables at the Library with information on their services and volunteer needs. There are volunteer opportunities for adults AND teens.</p><p>The Volunteer Fair is the perfect way for newcomers to discover what the town has to offer, for retirees to put their skills to work in volunteer positions and for families to teach the importance of giving back to others. Run Like A Mother 5K in Ridgefield on Mother's Day! Registration is OPEN!

<p><em>Empower. Inspire. Enable. Run Like A Mother® Isn’t Just a Race, It’s Our Way of Life.</em></p><p>National organization Run Like A Mother® announces its 2024 5K race in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Runners can make a donation when they register for the race, or they can choose to donate during the registration process, which automatically enters them to win items and experiences provided by partners of Run Like a Mother.</p><p>A celebration of women, Run Like A Mother was founded in 2008 by Ridgefield, CT resident, owner of Ridgefield and Darien Running Companies, and author of <em>See Mom Run- Every Mother’s Guide to Getting Fit and Running Her First 5k</em>, Megan Searfoss. Since its start, Run Like A Mother has encouraged more than 25,000 women in all stages of motherhood (novice, new, and experienced) across the country to make running a part of their life.</p><p>“Run Like A Mother encourages women to step out the door and move,” said Searfoss. “The race gives women an opportunity to run a race with their family cheering them on from the start to the finish and post-race celebration.”</p><p>Registration is currently open for the race. Shovels in the ground at The Aldrich! Sculture Garden project is blooming!

<p>Today marked a historic moment for The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Founded by Larry Aldrich in 1964 on Main Street in Ridgefield, the museum has long championed community accessibility and the presentation of art in natural settings. This vision reached new heights today.</p><p>A groundbreaking ceremony was held for The Aldrich's Sculpture Garden and campus renovation projects, attended by local dignitaries, trustees, and supporters. Executive Director Cybele Maylone welcomed attendees, including government officials Matthew J Pugliese, Deputy Commissioner of CT DECD, State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo, and First Selectman Rudy Marconi. Maylone expressed gratitude to Aldrich Trustees, highlighting Eric Diefenbach, Chair Emeritus, and Diana Bowes, current Trustee Chair, for their pivotal roles in realizing the project. She also acknowledged the contribution of the project’s landscape architects from Cambridge, <a href="https://www.stimsonstudio.com/studio" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">STIMSON</a>.</p><p>State Representative Berger-Girvalo shared her personal connection to The Aldrich, recalling how a visit with her children sparked a lasting bond with the museum. Pugliese highlighted the State of Connecticut's support for the project through the Urban Act Grant and the <a href="https://portal.ct.gov/Office-of-the-Governor/News/Press-Releases/2023/06-2023/Governor-Lamont-Announces-State-Grants-for-Upgrades-at-34-Cultural-and-Historic-Sites" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Office of the Arts Good to Great Grant</a> recognizing the museum's positive impact on the community.</p><p>Diana Bowes emphasized the significance of the Sculpture Garden in enhancing the museum's ability to support artists and engage the public.
