Once again this year, parents of John Jay High School seniors have organized a program for community members to show their support for 2021 graduates. “While our kids are thrilled to return to the hallways this spring, they have missed so much during their milestone year. We are happy to continue this opportunity for our generous community to virtually wrap our arms around our entire senior class and send them off in style,” said organizer Susan Lasota.
The Adopt a Senior initiative pairs residents who sign up for the program with participating John Jay High School seniors. Residents commit to dropping off or sending a total of three gifts – one per week, beginning the week of June 7 and ending the week of June 21. Gifts can be of any value; examples include notes of encouragement, drawings, charitable donations, baked goods, college merchandise, and arts and crafts supplies to decorate graduation caps. The program is organized by volunteer parents and is not affiliated with parent-teacher organizations at John Jay.
