Pursuit in Golden's Bridge hamlet of Lewisboro ends in arrest

On September 24, 2019, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested Michael F. Burton Jr., age 20, of Bronx, NY, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 2nd degree, a class C felony.

On September 24, 2019, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Troopers observed a 2019 BMW 530I traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 684 in the town of Lewisboro and failed to comply with attempts to stop the vehicle.  The operator, later identified as Burton, led Troopers on a pursuit to State Route 22, North Street, and State Route 138.  Burton attempted to evade Troopers by driving off the road on Best Plumbing Tile and Stone, and John F. Kennedy Catholic High School properties, causing damage to both.

Burton returned to State Route 138 before attempting to make a turn onto Old Bedford Road.  Burton failed to negotiate the turn at an unsafe speed, struck a guide rail, and then struck an uninvolved vehicle head-on.  Burton was taken into custody without further incident, and the vehicle was discovered to be stolen.  Both Burton and a rear seat passenger were transported to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation.

After being released from Westchester Medical Center, Burton was arraigned before the town of Bedford Court.  The Honorable Judge Menken released Burton on his own recognizance to reappear before the Court on October 7, 2019, at 6:30 p.m.

This investigation is still on-going, and updates will be provided when available.
