<p class="ql-align-center"><strong>Flanders Hosts Melody Asbury Art Exhibit: <em>Living with Animals, a View of Flanders &amp; Beyond</em></strong></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">An exhibit of work by Melody Asbury, “Living with Animals, a View of Flanders and Beyond,” opens at Flanders Nature Center &amp; Land Trust on Friday, May 9. An artists’ reception with wine and cheese is planned for Friday, May 9 at 6:00 pm in Flanders’ Van Vleck Gallery. Her work will be on display until June 30.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Melody will give a free gallery talk on Friday, May 30 at 6:30 pm in the Van Vleck Gallery, which is located at 5 Church Hill Road, Woodbury. </span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">A member of Flanders Art Committee, Melody will talk about her art and her journey as an artist. For many years she has painted Flanders’ farm animals, following in the footsteps of Flanders’ founder, artist Natalie Van Vleck. Melody also paints portraits of wildlife, and has most recently focused on more spiritual themes, including the spirit of wild animals.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Melody is an accomplished wildlife painter admired for her intimate portrayal of animals. She is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists. Her love of painting animals came after a lengthy career as a portrait and courtroom sketch artist for TV. </span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Registration is not required to attend the artist’s reception. Registration is suggested for the gallery talk.
